Memorial Day Thoughts

My thoughts today have centered on how we take so much for granted- like life itself. It's Memorial Day...I tend to think of it as a holiday, yet it is really so very much more than that. I think of all those who have gone on before me, those who have died in wars, fighting for (freedom/civil rights/religious freedom/justice...)I don't want to take them or their sacrifice for granted. I am thankful for their lives. Yet I'm also wishing that we had peace, that people could get along, that we would be concerned about civil liberties in countries that don't have any money as well as those that do. So...Memorial Day...so grateful for all that have gone on before, but also looking forward to the possibilities of what the future can hold.
